Eagles teams take first win

Both Eagles mens and ladies team take great victories. Read on for match reports....

The Eagles junior womens team made their debut in the womens league and won their opening game against Fartown 4-2. After the first two matches it was all square. The Eagles then took the next two matches with Mellor and Emily Crowther  beating Griffiths and Cato-Bedeau over 3 very close games  21-15,  18-21, 21-15. Amy Crowther and Jessica Hall then beat Peltzier& Cato-Bedau in another tight match over three games, 21-15, 13-21, 21-17. With 2 matches to play the Eagles needed one to secure victory. Sheila Mellor and Amy Crowther managed to beat Val Smith and Sera Griffiths 21-15, 22-18 to give the Eagles their first victory. The Eagles Mens team took their first ever win since joining the mens league with victory in their first match of the new season with a 4-2 victory over St Cuthberts Raqueteers. The Eagles took the first two matches, with St Cuthberts coming back to take the third with Martinek and Chau just edging it over Platt and Birkenhead. The Eagles pairing of Prady and Price-Thomas took the forth game. With two games to go the Eagles needed one game to win the match. The fifth game was very close  with Martinek and Saniezar taking the first end 22-20. Birkenhead and Price-Thomas fought back to take the second end 21-17. In a close third end Martinek and Saniezar won  18-21 to win the 5th game.
